When specifying attack-resistant glass for doors or vision panels, glass selection must align with the required performance tier, fire-rating (if applicable), and the tested door/frame assembly. Several factors ensure both safety and functionality:
Fire-Rating: Verify whether fire-rated glass is required for your application, especially in corridors or egress paths.
Testing & Certification: Choose glass that has been tested and certified to recognized attack-resistant standards.
Vision Frame Type: Decide between single- or dual-pane metal frames. Dual-pane frames can offer enhanced performance but may affect appearance.
Glass Options for Dual Pane: If selecting dual-pane, confirm which fire-rated or specialty glass options are compatible.
Aesthetics: Consider the visual impact—dual-pane systems can influence transparency, thickness, and overall design.
Factory Installation - To maintain compliance with published testing standards and certification listings, all security and fire-rated glazing must be factory installed as part of the tested door assembly. Field glazing or component substitution may void certification, impact labeling eligibility, and compromise tested performance.

The 110 AMS Metal Vision Frame is a robust, single-pane metal vision frame designed for use with non-rated and select security glazing. It provides a clean, low-profile appearance while securely retaining glass in standard and attack-resistant configurations. Currently, Forte offers one 20- or 45-minute fire-rated security glazing solution from McGrory Glass that integrates fire protection and attack-resistance into a single lite. This eliminates the need for a dual-pane build-up and provides several advantages:

When fire resistance is required, depending on the glass selected, the fire-rated glass and attack-resistant glass may be combined in a dual-pane configuration to maintain both security and life-safety performance. Configurations vary based on availability of fire-rated attack-resistant glass. Refer to Glass, Glazing & Vision Frames Options in table 4.2 for list of available glass by security tier.
The 110B-D2 AMS Metal Vision Frame is a dual-pane, fire-rated metal vision frame engineered to accommodate thicker, multi-layer glazing assemblies. Designed for higher performance applications, it supports both fire-rated and advanced security glass while maintaining the integrity of rated door systems.
