Setting the Standard

How David Jordan Helps Move the Industry Forward with Purpose

When it comes to wood doors, performance isn’t just about how a product is built. It’s also about how well it’s understood. For architects, specifiers, and installers, knowing what to expect and how to ensure quality is critical, and so is having a voice in the standards that define those expectations in the first place.

That’s where David Jordan’s work makes a lasting difference. As Director of Technical Sales Support at Forte, David contributes to two major industry organizations: the Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) and the Door Hardware Institute (DHI). Through these groups, he plays a key role in shaping codes, training, and technical resources that improve how doors are specified, manufactured, and delivered.

As a member of WDMA’s Architectural Door Codes and Standards Committee and supporting the development of new certification content through DHI, David helps bring clarity to complex product categories and elevate the industry’s shared understanding of wood doors from aesthetics and performance to long-lasting reliability.

  • WDMA – Architectural Door Codes and Standards Committee (ADCSC), I.S. 1A and I.S. 6A Standards Task Group, Chair

David’s Perspective: Looking back, I wish I had gotten involved in these organizations sooner. Wood doors have both aesthetic and performance demands that need to be understood and defined. Through my role, I’m focused on helping educate the industry—from specifiers to installers—on what to expect, how to ensure quality, and why it matters. It’s also been rewarding to help shape standards that reflect real-world manufacturing and serve both our customers and the future of the industry.

Why It Matters

Product knowledge is one thing. Industry understanding is another. David’s involvement ensures Forte can support both, bringing together proven experience and forward-thinking insight to serve customers better. From navigating specifications to avoiding costly rework, his work helps professionals across the built environment make decisions with greater clarity, confidence, and consistency.
